Another post from Monika. If you would like to have a post published here and it is unique contact me and we can see what we can do.

Who wouldn’t like to stay healthy for as long as possible? Unfortunately we usually think of our health only when there is something wrong with us – then we cannot think of anything else. But to be really healthy we should work on it on a daily basis not just when something aches… A healthy lifestyle should become a pleasant routine. There are several issues that we should pay attention to.

Better nutrition means a stronger immune system, and consequently less illnesses and a better mood. Food is like fuel for the body and the better it is, the smoother the organism works. There is no perfect diet for everyone – the diet should be suited to your lifestyle, age and preferences – but there are several important items that should be remembered:

fruit, vegetables, legumes, whole grains and nuts should be part of everyday menu;

it is important to limit the intake of simple sugars as well as sodium and salt;

the diet should be low in saturated fat and cholesterol and moderate in total fat intake (no more than 30% of calories should come from total fat);

it is better to avoid fried food.

To maintain good health and looks, you need to keep in shape. Even if you are not much into sports, you can find some activity that will help you to stay in shape. You can start with longer walks a couple of times a week. Vigorous walking improves blood circulation, and thus, the heart and brain receive more oxygen. You can also join a gym or try to use exercise equipment at home. No matter what sport you choose, it will be beneficial to your health as long as you practice regularly. Systematic training will quickly bring noticeable positive effects

Keeping the brain active increases its vitality and reduces the process of losing mental abilities (such as memory) as you grow older. That is why it is important to develop various skills and take part in some courses or trainings. Puzzles, crosswords and board games will also help stimulate the brain. To ensure that you make the most of your mind, you also have to get enough sleep.

Stress affects each of us and it is natural for human beings. Nevertheless, if it is constant and prolonging it can cause many negative problems with digestion, stomach pain, insomnia, nervousness etc. That is why you have to remember to relax. For lots of people exercising is a way of fighting the stress, but for others reading a book, going to the movies, or taking a long shower is more effective. You should also find time for family and friends. Talking to someone who is close to you about problematic situations that occur always brings relief. Remember that no matter how busy you are with work or household duties, you need some time to rest and relax. Otherwise you won’t be effective and in the long run you won’t save time by cutting out pleasures.

Everybody likes people who are cheerful so why not be one of them? Cheerful people make friends easier, look healthier and more easily overcome adversities. Laughter also helps reduce stress and triggers the release of endorphins which make us feel better.

To sum thing up, if you would like to lead a healthy live, you need to put some effort to break bad habits and change your lifestyle to a more optimal one. Satisfaction guaranteed 

Running Doesn’t Equal Freedom to Indulge

Here is another guest post. If you would like to be a guest blogger for Living the Healthy way then you can contact me here via my other blog: Write for us

I’m a runner, one who trains for long distance races like 10-milers, ½ marathons and marathons. My typical base mileage is in the 40- to 45-mile per week range, higher when prepping for marathons. You’d think that all that running would mean the freedom to eat just about anything I want without gaining weight. Well, you’d think wrong!

While running, and other forms of calorie-burning exercises like it, is a great way to fire up the metabolism, it doesn’t give you free reign at the buffet line. In fact, I’ve learned that because I’m so active, it’s even more important to fuel my body with healthy foods in reasonable quantities.

I use a sensible approach to my nutrition. If you’re new to running or other endurance sports, here are a few tips to keep in mind when it comes to your diet:

Eat enough healthy carbs to fuel your efforts

Use protein to recover from long or hard training sessions

Incorporate calcium—especially if you are female—to help keep your skeletal system strong

Keep sweets, alcohol, and mindless extra snacking in check

With a no nonsense approach to your nutrition, you’ll find that you have the energy you need for your workouts, without the extra calories you don’t.

Foods to include in a diet when trying to lose weight

Jack blogs about how to lose weight  in a way that is healthy, natural and safe.

Much of weight loss has to do with the foods in which we eat. It is quite obvious that if we overeat then we are probably going to put on extra pounds. Add into the mix a sedentary lifestyle and it can be quite difficult to keep the pounds from accumulating on your body.  However, what most people do not know is that there are several foods they can actually aid in weight loss.

The following are just a few of these foods that have been shown to help lose weight. Eggs often get a bad reputation when it comes to your health. Every other year a study comes out saying that eggs are bad for you, and then the next year they produce another study which says they’re actually good for you. Many of these studies focus on the cholesterol in eggs and the harm that it may cause to your heart. However, many studies show that eggs can actually be quite good for you. Eggs are high in protein and can help you feel fuller for longer period of time. Simply by including eggs in your breakfast you may end up consuming fewer calories throughout the day.

Oats are another type of food that can help you lose weight because of the fibre they contain. Studies have shown that foods high in fibre can actually aid in weight loss because the fibre helps pull the fats found in other foods through the digestive system with it. Oats are also digested very slowly and can help you stay fuller longer. Wild salmon is another great food for weight loss. Salmon is full of omega-3 fatty acids which can improve insulin sensitivity and  actually helps decrease belly fat.

Chillies are another food which is great for helping you lose weight. One of the main benefits of eating foods high in chillies is that spicy food usually has to be eaten much slower. Eating food slowly helps fool the brain into thinking you are full in a shorter amount of time. Also, chillies contain capsicum which as been proven to increase the body’s metabolism. This increased metabolism will help you burn off more calories and increase your weight loss. Finally, one of the best foods that you can consume is plain yoghurt. Plain yoghurt helps stave off hunger by keeping blood sugar levels in the body steady.Instituting these foods into your diet will greatly increase the chance of weight loss. Slowly work these foods into your existing menu to help your body adjust to the change.

This is a guest post by Jack.

There’s lots of people in this world who spend so much time watching their health that they haven’t the time to enjoy it.
